Garden Plans: Petunia Choices
I usually don’t spend much time selecting petunia seeds. In fact I purchased one WAVE petunia plant for a container on my deck each of the last couple of years, and that was it for petunias. I hate pinching them. But the WAVE petunias are unbelievable! One plant filled a very large (20″) pot and trailed to the ground, spreading 3 feet or more all around in a beautiful, blossom-covered mound. Never needs pinching, and sets new buds while the flowers are opening…there is a continuous barrage of blooms in various stages of development, and you can hardly see the leaves!
So this year, I have an area along a retaining wall I need to cover. I’ve decided to try some WAVE petunia seeds. Burpee has a variety called “Tie Dye” that I’ve settled on. 15 seeds for the cost of one plant at the nursery. Sounds good to me. I hope I’ll have enough room inside to start all the seedlings I’m planning.
