Bluebells in the Woods
One of my favorite spring flowers grows native in the Hoosier woodlands. These are bluebells, which thrive in rich soils of wooded areas. Bluebells spread rapidly, and are easy to transplant, which makes them an easy plant to use for naturalizing. They bloom just after the early-midseason jonquils, so if you want to have them mixed with daffodils or other members of the jonquil family, plant late season jonquil bulbs. Bluebells grow from roots or transplanted plants.
Bluebells will bloom continuously over a period of several days, often up to 2 weeks or more.
Bluebells are a beautiful sight, their nodding heads bobbing above the leaves on a breezy spring day. They are great naturalizers.
